The Adult Education School offers special education to undergraduate students. Currently it employs five learning approaches: Correspondence, Night School, Off-work Teaching, Open Teaching and Specific Training of different levels and kinds.The School owns 24 correspondence stations with around 4,000 students enrolled. There are 30 staff members and 18 of them are full-time teachers. Since the foundation of the adult education centre in 1983, the School has successively trained about 30,000 students in differen areas. For many years the School has been earnestly carrying out the policies in relation to the education and teaching of our government,aiming towards the education for the most population, insisting on the reformation and exploration of our daily work and setting up scientific management system for high quality education for adults. We have made great achievementsin the Open-Learning field by adopting the principle of "allowing everyone to be admitted but only those who have passed the necessary examination can graduate,combining learning with teaching and moral education with academic education".The new model of managing the School has been thought highly of by different sections from the whole society. In only a few years the School has receivedvisiting groups from more than 100 universities and Schools. In 2000, the School was awarded the "Tianjin Good Unit for Education Assistance" by the Tianjin Examination Committee. In 2001 the School was awarded by the Ministry of State Education "The Good Unit for Self Taught Education".InJan. 2001, the School achieved the 1st Prize in the Tianjin 2000 Education Achievements Tournament by its "Setting Up the Open Education System --Study of Management in Daily Education Worksfor Common Junior Schools. In addition to our education service for the local economic development, the School insistson itspolicy to provide help for those undeveloped and poor regions. Ithas established long-term and stablecooperative relations with about 70 regions anddepartments in nearly 20 provinces and cities. The School set up specialties and training targets according to the needs ofthe local area. It not only promotes the local economy, but also lays a solid foundation for the School's substantial development. Since 1994 the School has been cooperating with Guoluo Tibet Autonomous Prefecture and trained persons in greatly needed majors at specialised practical levels. More than a hundred graduates have fulfilled their studies and are now playing an important role in the local economic construction and social development.
